“St.
Mark’s Square Windows”
Diana Johnson – Martin (Kingsport)
Color 2nd Place
“The embellishments on the ancient structure as well
as the symmetry of the windows got my attention. The gentleman
seemed to be enjoying the sight which I’m sure he
sees daily.”

“Upland
Dwarf Iris”
Kenneth Weitzen (Hendersonville, NC) Color 3rd Place
“A piece of black cloth was carefully positioned behind
the small delicate flower with wind deflectors strategically
positioned. The flower was not harmed.”
|
“Sunwapta
Falls”
Richard Siggins (Kingsport)
Color HM*
“The falls is one of the most popular stops
on the Icefield Parkway in Jasper National Park. With the
snow, the turquoise glacier-fed river was beautiful and we
were the only ones there!”

“Slow
and Easy”
Tanya Hale (Ft. Blackmore, VA)
Color HM
“Macro photography seems to be my thing. I really like
the challenge of finding snails in the perfect location. Contrary
to what people believe, they can move pretty fast.”
|
“Cinque
Terre Italy”
Frank Renault (Abingdon, VA)
Color HM
“It means ‘five lands or cities’ and they
are located one mile apart near Portofino in northwest Italy.
We strolled to each city along a path that clings to the cliffs
overlooking the ocean.”
|
“Water
Lily Wonder”
Ruth Baker (Kingsport)
Color HM
“I was walking around the lily ponds in the mountains
of North Carolina when I saw this lily. At the time I thought
my best photo would be one of the other plants. A pleasant
surprise!”
|
“Olympia
Café”
BJ
Baker (Kingsport)
Color HM
“I shot it in Savannah, Georgia looking into the sun,
so initially it was not a good picture. To salvage it, I did
a lot of work in Photoshop applying art filters to bring out
the background.”
|
“River
of Light”
Clair Hixson (Kingsport)
Color HM
“All photographs in Antelope Canyon are accomplished
with reflected light off the sandstone walls. The best work
is done midday when the sun provides adequate light into the
deep slot canyon.”
|
“Minted
Along the Wall”
J.T. Wyatt (Kingsport)
Color HM
“I was walking around Santa Fe early one morning, looking
for ‘portrait quality’ blossoms. Since I couldn’t
get a good close-up with Salvia, I settled for the effect
of the shadows and crustose licheons on the adobe wall.”

“Hawaiian
Gecko”
Roger Lee (Sevierville, TN)
Color HM
“Upon exiting our hotel in Kona, I saw this spotted
gecko on a heliconia plant. Thinking the color contrast was
striking, I shot him.”

“The schoolhouse room in North Carolina’s Cataloochee
Valley seemed so empty, after years of being full of laughing
children. The light was my inspiration.”
