Climbing Out
This
was taken in an back alley in downtown Morristown. It had
been raining all morning, and that--coupled with the soft
light--really brought out the details of the old window,
the brick, and the vine.

Picking Circle
I
had my instruments out taking photos for insurance purposes
and decided to try something a little more artistic just
for fun. This is the result.

Deep Purple Haze
Photo
taken from my front porch. Loved the color and thought it looked
a little mysterious,
so I thought I would try to enhance that effect.

His Majesty
This
male lion was lounging in his den in the Atlanta zoo this
past January. His pose was regal, the light was perfect,
and it was a great opportunity to get this shot.

In the Looking Glass
The image of a sorceress
looking into the shard of a broken mirror. Originally a
digital color image that, with the exception of the model's
eye, was converted to monochrome.

Break Out
This
was taken in a back alley in downtown Jefferson City. I
liked the contrast of the color and texture of the little
sprig against the lock and metal.

The Young Gunsmith
This
was taken in Marten's Station, Virginia. I used a long lens,
high ISO, and wide open aperture to shoot him through an
open window. The shot took quite a while as I had to wait
until he was in the right position with his head down so
his face was in shadow and his hands in the light.

Arches National Park
While
visiting Arches National Park in 2008, this was one of our
first stops. I was amazed at the rock formations and beauty
of the area and just started snapping pictures. This shot
of 'Park Avenue' is one of my favorites from the trip.

A Touch of Autumn
This photo was taken
while hiking with my six year old son. He had spent most
the day telling me what to take pictures of. I guess it
pays to listen to your kids.

Morning Trees
I
was at the lake attempting a sunrise shot, which never happened.
As I was leaving, I looked back and saw this beautiful,
calm scene. Glad I stuck around for a while.

The Gourd
This was taken at
the Museum of the Appalachias. My hope is that the heavy
contrast--almost to the point of a line drawing--brings
out the simplicity of the lines and curves.

Age of Innocence
My
granddaughter seemed to be more in awe of the field of clover
and the dandelions than the gifts at her second birthday
party. I was equally in awe of her innocence.

Fear Not ... Isaiah 43:1
I
was taking pictures of my daughter one evening andwhile looking
at her through the lens
I realized just how quickly she is growing up...that’s when
I took this random shot of her boots.

Heceta Head Lighthouse
In
June, 2010 a friend (Janice Duncan) and I flew to Oregon to visit
the Oregon coastline. We started at the Northern end and traveled
to the Southern end. We made pictures of several Lighthouses of
which Heceta Head Lighthouse was my favorite. While there we also
visited Crater Lake, toured Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington.

Blue Plate Special
This
photo was taken in the Tennessee Aquarium, Butterfly Garden,
Chattanooga, TN. These owl moths posed while I took several
shots. They were really enjoying dinner.

Landing Among the Sandhills
This photo was taken
in the Bosque del Apache preserve in N.M. this past winter.
It portrays a snow goose landing among sandhill cranes.
I think that the soft watercolor look is a result of the
printer managing the print instead of photoshop managing
it. The epson vivid setting was used; one of the few times
that I have used this setting.

A Different Chair
I
had a friend who always said that if you didn't like what
life was showing you, find a different chair. She died recently,
but I can see her in many a thing that's been given the
slightest shift for a most profound result.

Violins - Paris
When
we were in Paris last year, we walked out of our hotel room
one morning, and there on the street was an antique flea
market. The market was filled with photo opportunities.
I took several shots but this was my favorite.
